February 2021 PlayStation Plus Free Games

February's PlayStation Plus lineup changes tomorrow. Much like last month, there are three games that PlayStation Plus subscribers can add to their Library, one of which is a pretty big surprise.

These are the three games you can get as a PlayStation Plus subscriber next month:

February 2021 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Destruction AllStars | PS5 | ???
  • Control: Ultimate Edition | PS4 and PS5 | $39.99
  • Concrete Genie | PS4 | $29.99
February Savings: $69.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $119.97

How cool is that? Two PS5 games for the month of February. Sure, Control: Ultimate Edition is an upgraded PS4 game and not a native PS5 game, but I'm still pretty happy about it considering it is now possible to play Control in 60fps on a PlayStation console.

Like January, this is another weird one. I don't think you can get Destruction AllStars without a PlayStation Plus subscription, so there's currently no price for it. It is available until April 5, 2021.

Anyway, what do you think of February's lineup? Let me know in the comments below!

January 2021 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Happy New Year! I'm a few days late, but whatever. It's a new month, which means there are new games to add to your PlayStation Library if you're a PlayStation Plus Subscriber. This month's lineup includes a PS5 game. Even if you don't have a PlayStation 5, be sure to add it to your Library so you get your moneys worth.

It's pretty cool to see three games in the lineup again. It was a little concerning when they dropped PS3 and PS Vita games from the lineup, not gonna lie.

January 2021 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Maneater | PS5 | ???
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider | PS4 | ???
  • Greedfall | PS4 | $49.99

January Savings: $49.99
Year-to-Date Savings: $49.99

This is another weird one. You only get the PS5 version of Maneater, which isn't the same as the one listed on the PlayStation Store. The one that's listed on the PlayStation Store gives you the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the base game, so if you're wanting the extras from the Definitive Edition version of the game, you'll have to pay $19.99 to get that content.

Because I only know the true price for Greefall, I guess we'll have to say you're saving $49.99 this month, and assuming you don't have this game already. That being said, I'm excited to play Maneater. It looks like a pretty silly game, despite the setting.

What do you think of this month's lineup? Not a bad way to kickoff the year as a PlayStation Plus subscriber in my opinion. Last month's lineup wasn't great. I think this one is definitely better.

December 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Starting today, PlayStation Plus subscribers can get Worms Rumble, Just Cause 4, and Rocket Arena for free until January 5, 2021. The last time I played a Worms game was way back when Worms Armageddon was on PC. That game was really fun and funny.

It's the last month of the year, so let's see how much PlayStation Plus saved us, assuming we didn't have any of these games, of course.

December 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Worms Rumble | PS5 & PS4 | $14.99
  • Just Cause 4 | PS4 | ???
  • Rocket Arena | PS4 | $4.99

December Savings: $19.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $646.77

The version of Just Cause 4 that's for sell on the PlayStation Store isn't the same one being offered for free, so that's why it has question marks instead of a price.

November 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Yesterday, the PlayStation Blog announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for the month of November. PS5 owners will be getting an extra game this month, but until they say otherwise, I'm going to assume that anyone with PlayStation Plus will be able to add the additional game to their Library. It's crazy to think that the PlayStation 5 is coming out in 2 weeks, but it's really happening. Anyway, let's talk about the games coming to PlayStation Plus.

For PlayStation 5, it's no other than Bugsnax. It looks kinda silly and I wasn't going to get it, so it's kinda cool that it's free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. It will be available beginning Thursday, November 12, 2020 and will be available until Monday, January 4, 2021.

The PlayStation 4 games are Middle-earth: Shadow of War and Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition. Middle-earth: Shadow of War — Definitive Edition is on sale beginning tomorrow, but we're getting the base game for PlayStation Plus. The Expansion Pass is on sale beginning tomorrow as well though, so there is that.

I'm very excited that Hollow Knight is going to be free to download with PlayStation Plus. It's a game I started playing on Nintendo Switch... but I kinda stopped playing my Switch and started playing more PlayStation 4. I really need to get back to Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and a bunch of other games.

November 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Bugsnax | PS5 | $24.99
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War | PS4 | $49.99
  • Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition | $14.99

November Savings: $89.97
Year-to-Date Savings: $629.79

What do you think of November's lineup? Let me know in the comments section! Also, are you getting a PS5 on launch? Were you able to secure a pre-order. I've heard rumors that there may not be PS5s available to purchase outside of pre-orders, which is kind of crazy. Hopefully that isn't the case, but we'll see come November 12.

October 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Happy Spooktober! I dunno why I like saying that. I think it's stupid, but I also find it funny. But enough about that, let's talk about the two free games PlayStation Plus users can add to their library beginning October 6, 2020.

It's not very often I don't have at least one of the games being offered on PlayStation Plus, but October is one of those months. PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting Need for Speed: Payback and Vampyr. I haven't heard very good things about about Need for Speed: Payback, so there's that... I have seen more positive things about Vampyr, so that's good. That's really all I can say about either game.

October 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Need for Speed: Payback | PS4 | $19.99
  • Vampyr | PS4 | $39.99

October Savings: $59.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $539.82

I didn't realize this until right now, but apparently Need for Speed: Payback is free for EA Play subscribers, so if you have EA Play, then you're really only getting one game from PlayStation Plus this month. That's fun.

What do you think of October's lineup? Let me know in the comments section.

PlayStation Plus Collection for PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 has two release dates: November 12, 2020 and November 19, 2020. Not only does it have two release dates, there are two PS5 consoles: PS5 Digital Edition and PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive. The PS5 Digital Edition is $399.99 while the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive is $499.99. You can read more about the launch dates and pricing on the PlayStation Blog.

You probably already knew all of that stuff though considering I'm a week late. The purpose of this post isn't to talk about the launch dates or the pricing, it's to talk about the PlayStation Plus Collection for PS5. The PlayStation Plus Collection includes 18 PS4 games that "defined the generation." What are those 18 games? Here's the list of games:

PlayStation Plus Collection

Batman: Arkham Knight
Battlefield 1
Bloodborne
Days Gone
Detroit: Become Human
Fallout 4
Final Fantasy XV
God of War
inFAMOUS: Second Son
The Last Guardian
The Last of Us Remastered
Monster Hunter: World
Mortal Kombat X
Persona 5
Ratchet & Clank
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Until Dawn

Some of these games have been free on PlayStation Plus before. All of them have been on sale at one point or another. I have 15 of the 18 games listed. Still, it's pretty cool that they're doing something like this. Let's talk about some of these games.

Final Fantasy XV was one of my favorite games from 2016 and holds a special place in my heart. It gets a lot of crap, and maybe it deserves some of it, but I do think it's a special game and I loved my experience with it.

inFAMOUS: Second was pretty fun. It's not as good as its predecessors, but the powers you get are pretty fun.

The Last of Us Remastered is another game I love. I replayed it prior to playing the Last of Us Part II so I could finally get the Platinum Trophy and I still love it as much as I did the first time I played it in 2013. Joel and Ellie's cross-country journey is so good. And being able to play it in 60fps makes the game even better.

Another game I'm kinda currently playing that is on this list is Monster Hunter: World. It can be grindy at times, but it's so satisfying hunting monsters. It's really fun and I'm happy to see it in this list.

I'm currently playing Persona 5 and I'm loving it. I keep getting distracted by other games. I've had it since 2017, but I'm starting to play it more now and I really like the turn based combat.

Ratchet & Clank is one of my favorite PlayStation series and I think it's great that the 2016 game is part of the PlayStation Plus Collection. It's a silly game that's very fun and has a great story as well.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is another great PlayStation 4 game. While I may prefer Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception overall, Uncharted 4 is still very fun and it still blows my mind how beautiful this game is despite being four years old.

I'm not sure if any of these games will get any PS5 upgrades. It would be kind of weird if Persona 5 got PS5 enhancements when Persona 5 Royal released earlier this year on PS4 with PS4 Pro enhancements itself. Maybe they won't and they're just there for gamers to have to play on their new PS5. We also don't know if this is strictly for PS5 owners with PlayStation Plus or if it will also be available for PS4 owners. Like always, when new things get announced, new questions arise. We'll find out... eventually. At least we have release dates and prices for the consoles.

September 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

September 1 falls on a Tuesday, which means the PlayStation Plus lineup has been changed with new games. For September, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting PUBG: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Street Fighter V for free.

I've only played Street Fighter V. It kinda sucks that it's just the base game since I'm pretty sure I've seen it as cheap as $7.99 during a sale one time. I also believe both of these games are available in some form via PlayStation Now, which adds to the crappiness of this month's lineup.

Enough contemplating, let's talk about how much you save—assuming you don't have either of these games already.

September 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • PUBG: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds | PS4 | $29.99
  • Street Fighter V | PS4 | $19.99

September Savings: $49.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $479.84

Even if you aren't interested in either game, make sure you add them to your PlayStation 4 Library. Might as well take advantage of all of what PlayStation Plus has to offer since you're paying for the service.

What do you think of this month's lineup? Let me know in the comments below.
