July 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games

If you're like me, you wait until the last minute to do something. Life is more exciting that way, isn't it? Okay... not really... I just got lazy and I'm finally getting around to write about July's free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Originally, PS Plus subscribers were going to get Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, but for some reason that game was taken out of the lineup and has been replaced by a game called Detroit: Become Human. PlayStation isn't just giving PS Plus subscribers the standard edition though. If you have PlayStation Plus, you'll be getting the deluxe edition. I'm not sure if they're making up for not giving us Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, but if that's what it is, then thank you because no one wanted Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, but it's very nice of you to give us the deluxe edition of Detroit: Become Human. I almost bought Detroit: Become Human when it was on sale. Of course, I waited until the last minute and didn't get to buy it when it was less than $10. But hey, procrastination paid off this time because now I'm getting the game for free. Not only do you get Detroit: Become Human, you'll also get Heavy Rain bundled with it. That's awesome.

You're also getting Horizon Chase Turbo, but I know noting about it... Sorry >_>

For more information on July's lineup, go here.

July 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games:

  • Detroit: Become Human Deluxe Edition (Heavy Rain included) | PS4 | $29.99
  • Horizon Chase Turbo | PS4 | $19.99
July Savings: $49.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $574.79

I think I've said enough in this post. What do you think about this month's lineup? Are you sad you won't be getting Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 for free? Let me know in the comments section below!

June 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games

We (or me since I do this alone...) at whatever this blog is called. kirachem, I guess? That's more my username than anything else... anyway, I digress. Complaints are generally made whenever writing about the PlayStation Plus lineup—usually in jest, mind you. Do I have any complaints about June's lineup of free games? Yes, I do. I already have both of these games. On the other hand, I can vouch for both games and tell you they're both great games. I prefer one over the other, but that doesn't matter because for the month of June you're getting two fantastic games. Technically three when it comes down to it. Let's talk about the games you'll be getting as a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

June 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games:

  • Borderlands: The Handsome Collection | PS4 | $59.99
  • Sonic Mania | PS4 | $19.99
June Savings: $79.98
Year to Date Savings: $524.81

Borderlands has had its fair share of appearances in the PlayStation Plus lineup. On PS3, both Borderlands and Borderlands 2 were free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. That's how I got into playing Borderlands. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection contains Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. While you'll have to get Borderlands Game of the Year Edition separately (it's been on sale at least two times already since coming to PS4 on April 3, 2019 and is currently on sale right now), you're getting two full games and their respective DLC. Also, if you own a PlayStation 4 Pro, you can download a free Ultra HD Texture Pack that improves textures for characters, vehicles, weapons, and environments.  Not bad. Moving on...

Sonic Mania is an amazing game and there's no excuse to not own it now. I'm so happy to see it in the PlayStation Plus lineup. While I've enjoyed recent Sonic games such as Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, Sonic Mania is on a whole other level. It has that classic look and feel, but there's enough new content to keep it fresh. The music is phenomenal and I just love the design of the game. It's a beautiful looking game. I ended up buying the game on PS4 and Switch. Add it to your library once it becomes free.

Assuming you don't own either aforementioned game, you save $79.98—a decent amount of money. Despite already owning both games, I'm actually quite happy with the PS Plus lineup for June. What do you think of the free games you'll be getting in June? Let me know in the comments below!

May 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Better late than never, I suppose. Can you believe we're 10 days into May already? I'm honestly surprised. Anyway, that's not what you're here for. You're here... well, I actually don't know if anyone is really reading what I post, so I'll just stop there.

May's free PlayStation Plus games have been up since Tuesday, May 7, 2019. You've had a few days to add these games to your library. If you haven't, then stick around to find out which games you get for free and how much you save (assuming you haven't purchased either game, let alone want either game... but if you're adding them to your library, then you are saving, right?) being a PlayStation Plus subscriber. As of March 2019, we've only been getting PS4 games. Let's find out which two PS4 games we get this month.

May 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games:

  • Overcooked | PS4 | $16.99
  • What Remains of Edith Finch | PS4 | $19.99
May Savings: $36.98
Year to Date Savings: $444.83

You save a whopping $36.98 this month if you haven't gotten these games already. I personally don't know anything about either of these games, so I can't help you there. I'll definitely be adding them to my library though. Might as well, don'tcha think?

April 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Last month was the first month the PlayStation Plus lineup didn't include PlayStation 3 games or PlayStation Vita games. April's lineup is no different unfortunately. In March, PlayStation Plus subscribers were able to download Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness for free.

I don't know what else to write, so here's April's lineup:

  • The Surge | PS4 | $49.99
  • Conan Exiles | PS4 | $49.99

April Savings: $99.98
Year to Date Savings: $407.85

There you have it. PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting The Surge and Conan Exiles for free beginning tomorrow.

What do you think of the PlayStation Plus lineup? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below...

March 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games

March is pretty much here, which means new free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. More specifically, for PS4 owners with a PlayStation Plus subscription. That's right, no more free games on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita. I kind of wish they went all out in February for all of us that supported the PS3 and especially the PS Vita, but it is what it is.

Before I continue, I think I should explain what I mean by savings. No one has said anything about it, but I started to wonder what I meant by it. In reality, you aren't really saving if you didn't want any of the games listed, I suppose. In this case, it's all relative. But assuming you wanted every single game made free via PlayStation Plus and somehow didn't have any of the games made free, then I'd say you're getting the best value with PlayStation Plus. I hope my explanation makes sense. That is what I'm aiming for with savings. I'm in no means trying to say that PlayStation Plus is better than Games with Gold because there are plenty of months when the lineup is better for Xbox gamers. Anyway, enough chit chat, let's get on with the list of games.

For March 2019, we're getting two free games on PlayStation 4. Just two games, you say? What are those two games? One of them is a remaster of a very popular shooter that was released in 2007. The other is a puzzle based game. Did you guess Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness? You're pretty good.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered | PS4 | $39.99
  • The Witness | PS4 | $39.99
March Savings: $79.98
Year to Date Savings: $307.87

I wanted to get The Witness, but I kind of forget it existed, so thank you the powers that be at PlayStation and Thekla, Inc. While I'm not a fan of the Call of Duty franchise, I still play some of their games from time to time. I've also been wanting to check out Modern Warfare Remastered, so this is a great way to finally give it a try. Despite, the lack of PS3 and PS Vita games, I'm actually pretty happy with March's lineup. What do you think of March's lineup? Let me know in the comments section below!

February 2019 PlayStation Plus Free Games

This is it, everyone. February 2019 is the last time PlayStation Plus subscribers will ever get PS3 and PS Vita games for free. That's probably the saddest sentence I've ever written on this blog...

Before we talk about how much you'll be saving with PlayStation Plus in February (assuming you wanted any of these games or don't already have them), let's talk about cloud storage. The PlayStation Blog reported that cloud space storage will be increasing "from 10GB to 100GB for PS Plus members." Does anyone know how to find out how much storage they have left? I've always wondered if I've gotten close to 10GB. I guess that doesn't matter since the increase will happen in early February, but I should find out.

Anyway, let's talk about what's free in February.

  • Hitman: The Complete First Season | PS4 | (N/A)
  • For Honor | PS4 | $39.99
  • Divekick | PS3 (cross-buy with PS Vita) | $4.99
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots | PS3 | $19.99
  • Gunhouse | PS Vita (cross-buy with PS4) | $14.99
  • Rogue Aces | PS Vita (cross-buy with PS4) | $12.99
February Savings: $92.95
Year to Date Savings: $227.89

What are your thoughts? Lemme know in the comments section.

Your PlayStation Journey 2018 Campaign

If you've ever wanted to know which games you played the most in 2018 on your PlayStation 4 (I'm not sure if it includes PS3 and PS Vita data), then now is the best time. Sony has a page up displaying your 3 most played games in 2018, as well as the total amount of time you played on your console.

My most played game in 2018 was Overwatch. Apparently I clocked in 301 hours in Overwatch. I'm pretty sure that is down from last year by about 100 hours. In second place is Marvel's Spider-Man. I had all year to play Overwatch, so I was a bit surprised to see that I put in 68 hours into Spider-Man. That's the base game and DLC and me probably swinging around. In third place is Horizon Zero Dawn. I believe it made my top 3 last year as well. If I remember correctly, my top 3 in 2017 were Overwatch, Final Fantasy XV, and Horizon Zero Dawn.

It'll also show the total amount of trophies you earned, including how many Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophies you acquired in 2018.

The breakdown even includes the amount of games played, trophies earned, and hours wasted played each month on your PS4. That's pretty awesome. Or sad...

So go check the link. I've included it in this paragraph in case you missed it earlier. Will you play less or try to play more in 2019? Guess we'll find out next year, won't we?
