December 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Starting today, PlayStation Plus subscribers can get Worms Rumble, Just Cause 4, and Rocket Arena for free until January 5, 2021. The last time I played a Worms game was way back when Worms Armageddon was on PC. That game was really fun and funny.

It's the last month of the year, so let's see how much PlayStation Plus saved us, assuming we didn't have any of these games, of course.

December 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Worms Rumble | PS5 & PS4 | $14.99
  • Just Cause 4 | PS4 | ???
  • Rocket Arena | PS4 | $4.99

December Savings: $19.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $646.77

The version of Just Cause 4 that's for sell on the PlayStation Store isn't the same one being offered for free, so that's why it has question marks instead of a price.

What do you think of this month's PS Plus lineup? Let me know in the comments below.

November 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Yesterday, the PlayStation Blog announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for the month of November. PS5 owners will be getting an extra game this month, but until they say otherwise, I'm going to assume that anyone with PlayStation Plus will be able to add the additional game to their Library. It's crazy to think that the PlayStation 5 is coming out in 2 weeks, but it's really happening. Anyway, let's talk about the games coming to PlayStation Plus.

For PlayStation 5, it's no other than Bugsnax. It looks kinda silly and I wasn't going to get it, so it's kinda cool that it's free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. It will be available beginning Thursday, November 12, 2020 and will be available until Monday, January 4, 2021.

The PlayStation 4 games are Middle-earth: Shadow of War and Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition. Middle-earth: Shadow of War — Definitive Edition is on sale beginning tomorrow, but we're getting the base game for PlayStation Plus. The Expansion Pass is on sale beginning tomorrow as well though, so there is that.

I'm very excited that Hollow Knight is going to be free to download with PlayStation Plus. It's a game I started playing on Nintendo Switch... but I kinda stopped playing my Switch and started playing more PlayStation 4. I really need to get back to Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and a bunch of other games.

November 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Bugsnax | PS5 | $24.99
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War | PS4 | $49.99
  • Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition | $14.99

November Savings: $89.97
Year-to-Date Savings: $629.79

What do you think of November's lineup? Let me know in the comments section! Also, are you getting a PS5 on launch? Were you able to secure a pre-order. I've heard rumors that there may not be PS5s available to purchase outside of pre-orders, which is kind of crazy. Hopefully that isn't the case, but we'll see come November 12.

October 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Happy Spooktober! I dunno why I like saying that. I think it's stupid, but I also find it funny. But enough about that, let's talk about the two free games PlayStation Plus users can add to their library beginning October 6, 2020.

It's not very often I don't have at least one of the games being offered on PlayStation Plus, but October is one of those months. PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting Need for Speed: Payback and Vampyr. I haven't heard very good things about about Need for Speed: Payback, so there's that... I have seen more positive things about Vampyr, so that's good. That's really all I can say about either game.

October 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Need for Speed: Payback | PS4 | $19.99
  • Vampyr | PS4 | $39.99

October Savings: $59.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $539.82

I didn't realize this until right now, but apparently Need for Speed: Payback is free for EA Play subscribers, so if you have EA Play, then you're really only getting one game from PlayStation Plus this month. That's fun.

What do you think of October's lineup? Let me know in the comments section.

PlayStation Plus Collection for PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 has two release dates: November 12, 2020 and November 19, 2020. Not only does it have two release dates, there are two PS5 consoles: PS5 Digital Edition and PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive. The PS5 Digital Edition is $399.99 while the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive is $499.99. You can read more about the launch dates and pricing on the PlayStation Blog.

You probably already knew all of that stuff though considering I'm a week late. The purpose of this post isn't to talk about the launch dates or the pricing, it's to talk about the PlayStation Plus Collection for PS5. The PlayStation Plus Collection includes 18 PS4 games that "defined the generation." What are those 18 games? Here's the list of games:

PlayStation Plus Collection

Batman: Arkham Knight
Battlefield 1
Bloodborne
Days Gone
Detroit: Become Human
Fallout 4
Final Fantasy XV
God of War
inFAMOUS: Second Son
The Last Guardian
The Last of Us Remastered
Monster Hunter: World
Mortal Kombat X
Persona 5
Ratchet & Clank
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Until Dawn

Some of these games have been free on PlayStation Plus before. All of them have been on sale at one point or another. I have 15 of the 18 games listed. Still, it's pretty cool that they're doing something like this. Let's talk about some of these games.

Final Fantasy XV was one of my favorite games from 2016 and holds a special place in my heart. It gets a lot of crap, and maybe it deserves some of it, but I do think it's a special game and I loved my experience with it.

inFAMOUS: Second was pretty fun. It's not as good as its predecessors, but the powers you get are pretty fun.

The Last of Us Remastered is another game I love. I replayed it prior to playing the Last of Us Part II so I could finally get the Platinum Trophy and I still love it as much as I did the first time I played it in 2013. Joel and Ellie's cross-country journey is so good. And being able to play it in 60fps makes the game even better.

Another game I'm kinda currently playing that is on this list is Monster Hunter: World. It can be grindy at times, but it's so satisfying hunting monsters. It's really fun and I'm happy to see it in this list.

I'm currently playing Persona 5 and I'm loving it. I keep getting distracted by other games. I've had it since 2017, but I'm starting to play it more now and I really like the turn based combat.

Ratchet & Clank is one of my favorite PlayStation series and I think it's great that the 2016 game is part of the PlayStation Plus Collection. It's a silly game that's very fun and has a great story as well.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is another great PlayStation 4 game. While I may prefer Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception overall, Uncharted 4 is still very fun and it still blows my mind how beautiful this game is despite being four years old.

I'm not sure if any of these games will get any PS5 upgrades. It would be kind of weird if Persona 5 got PS5 enhancements when Persona 5 Royal released earlier this year on PS4 with PS4 Pro enhancements itself. Maybe they won't and they're just there for gamers to have to play on their new PS5. We also don't know if this is strictly for PS5 owners with PlayStation Plus or if it will also be available for PS4 owners. Like always, when new things get announced, new questions arise. We'll find out... eventually. At least we have release dates and prices for the consoles.

September 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

September 1 falls on a Tuesday, which means the PlayStation Plus lineup has been changed with new games. For September, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting PUBG: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Street Fighter V for free.

I've only played Street Fighter V. It kinda sucks that it's just the base game since I'm pretty sure I've seen it as cheap as $7.99 during a sale one time. I also believe both of these games are available in some form via PlayStation Now, which adds to the crappiness of this month's lineup.

Enough contemplating, let's talk about how much you save—assuming you don't have either of these games already.

September 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • PUBG: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds | PS4 | $29.99
  • Street Fighter V | PS4 | $19.99

September Savings: $49.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $479.84

Even if you aren't interested in either game, make sure you add them to your PlayStation 4 Library. Might as well take advantage of all of what PlayStation Plus has to offer since you're paying for the service.

What do you think of this month's lineup? Let me know in the comments below.

August 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Yesterday, the PlayStation Blog announced which two games are coming to PlayStation Plus in August. One is available now and the other will be available to download on August 4, 2020. If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can download Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. What a title.

The second game is a brand new one called Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. This is the first time I've heard of this game, but it sounds pretty cool and I think it's pretty neat when a free game is a brand new game. It reminds me of when Rocket League was free and brand new.

Like always, even if you don't intend to play either of these games right away, add them to your PS4 Library so you can download them later. Why have PlayStation Plus if you aren't going to stash free games into your Library?

August 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout | PS4 | $19.99
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered | PS4 | Free

August Savings: $19.99
Year-to-Date Savings: $429.86

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is $19.99 on the PlayStation Store, but the PS Plus version is slightly different. It doesn't include "the Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle, available for use in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, including Warzone." Because the PlayStation Plus version is not quite the same as the $19.99 version of the game, I decided not to include the price.

What do you think of this month's lineup? Let me know in the comments below!

July 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

From July 7, 2020 to August August 3, 2020, PlayStation Plus subscribers can download NBA 2K20, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and Erica for free. That's right! There are three free games this month.

In my honest opinion, not a bad lineup. I already have Rise of the Tomb Raider, but if you don't have it and you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber, now is your chance to add it to your PS4 Library.

I think the only NBA 2K game I kinda sort but not really played was NBA 2K16. I believe that was free on PlayStation Plus a few years ago. It would be kind of fun to play as the Dallas Mavericks in NBA 2K20 though. We'll see if I ever get around to playing it... since I'm still working on getting the Platinum Trophy for Final Fantasy VII Remake. I'm also working on finishing the Last of Us Part II. I keep hopping on to Warzone with the squad, which has delayed both aforementioned things from happening.

I've never heard of Erica, but it's cool that PlayStation has a third game in the lineup. It doesn't happen often, but it's neat when it does.

Let's get to how much you're saving this month and how much you save for the dreadful year known as 2020:

July 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • NBA 2K20 | PS4 | $59.99
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration | PS4 | $29.99
  • Erica | PS4 | $9.99

July Savings: $99.97
Year-to-Date Savings: $409.87

Lastly, this month marks the 10th anniversary of PlayStation Plus. The PlayStation Blog has a breakdown of how many games have been made available for free via PlayStation Plus, the top 5 most downloaded PS Plus games in the last 10 years, and more.

What do you think of July's PlayStation Plus lineup? Let me know whatcha think in the comments below! Thanks for stopping by!

June 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Beginning today, you can add Star Wars Battlefront II to your PS4 Library. The rumors were wrong—no Spider-Man. Call of Duty WWII is the other game PlayStation Plus subscribers get for free in June.

Star Wars Battlefront II lists the game as being free for Plus subscribers from June 2, 2020 to July 7, 2020, but for some reason Call of Duty WWII doesn't show the same dates. It makes me wonder if it will be for free beyond the month of June. I guess we will see when July 7, 2020 hits.

June 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Call of Duty WWII | PS4 | Free
  • Star Wars Battlefront II | PS4 | $19.99

June Savings: $19.99
Year-to-Date Savings: $309.90

This month is a weird one. Call of Duty WWII doesn't list the original price of the game, which is why I say "Free" in place of an actual price. There is the Gold Edition of the game, but they don't have the same description. It's weird... so I guess you're only saving $19.99 in June even though you're getting a full Call of Duty game. I dunno what to tell ya.

What do you think of June's lineup? Let me know in the comments below!

Call of Duty: WWII Free for PlayStation Plus Subscribers

Beginning today, PlayStation Plus subscribers can download Call of Duty: WWII for free. On Twitter, the official PlayStation announced via their account that "Call of Duty: WWII is part of the monthly games lineup for June, and will be available for download starting May 26."

PlayStation will be announcing the rest of June's lineup later this week. Rumor has it Spider-Man will be made available to download for free for PlayStation Plus subscribers next month, but we'll see if that ends up being the case or not.

If you haven't already added Cities: Skylines and/or Farming Simulator 19, you still have until June 2, 2020 to add those two games to your Library.

May 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Beginning next Tuesday, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be treated to two new games they can add to their PS4 Library. In May, you'll be able to get Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19 with a PlayStation Plus subscription.

I have no experience with either game, but Cities: Skylines kind of sounds interesting. Makes me think of Sim City or something like that. I personally don't think I won't be playing either game personally since I still have plenty of other PS Plus games to get through. Still, I can understand people being upset considering the first four months have been pretty good for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

May 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Cities: Skylines - PlayStation 4 Edition | PS4 | $39.99
  • Farm Simulator 19 | PS4 | $39.99

May Savings: $79.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $289.91

What do you think of May's lineup? Let me know in the comments section.

Free Games on the PlayStation Store—No PlayStation Plus Required

That's right. You don't need PlayStation Plus to download these games for free. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey are free to download for all PlayStation 4 users. These games will be available to download for free from April 15, 2020 through May 5, 2020.

Sony is calling it the "Play At Home Initiative" due to the spread of COVID-19 all throughout the world. I think it's pretty cool that they're giving away games for free due to what's going on in the world.

You're getting three games with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, all of which are all very good and look fantastic on PS4. For PlayStation Plus subscribers, you probably have this game added to your Library, but I believe you can still acquire this game for free and have it forever instead of having it tethered to your PlayStation Plus subscription.

I haven't played Journey on PS4, but I did play it on PS3. It's a game I need to revisit because I actually fell asleep playing it. It didn't quite captivate me as it seemed to do for many others. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea? We'll see if revisiting it on PS4 will make a difference or not.

For more information regarding the Play At Home Initiative and other contents in the original post, head on over to the PlayStation Blog.

Update: Another game you can get for free without a PlayStation Plus subscription is Pac-Man Championship Edition 2. This game is available to download for free from April 24, 2020 to May 5, 2020. I don't think it's part of the initiative, but a free game is a free game regardless.

April 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

It's April Fools' Day, but this post is legit. Earlier today, April's PlayStation Plus games were revealed. Beginning April 7, 2020, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to add Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and DiRT Rally 2.0 to your Library.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's is a very beautiful game. It's one of the best looking games on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. It's also pretty fun. I've never played DiRT Rally 2.0, so that's all I've got to say about that.

April 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End | PS4 | $19.99
  • DiRT Rally 2.0 | PS4 | $39.99

April Savings: $59.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $209.93

March 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Yoooooo! We're getting Sonic Forces for free on PlayStation Plus! Let's go! Have you seen the Sonic the Hedgehog movie yet? Does getting Sonic Forces for free make you want to watch Sonic the Hedgehog? It shouldn't because Sonic Forces kind of sucks... if you have a gaming PC, get Sonic Generations. It's way better than Sonic Forces. I think it's free on Games with Gold for Xbox users with Xbox Live Gold. I still haven't seen it, but I want to watch Sonic the Hedgehog. I think it doesn't look too bad.

Anyway, let's focus up a little. As I mentioned, Sonic Forces is one of the free games you'll get as a PlayStation Plus subscriber for the month of March. The other game we'll be getting is Shadow of the Colossus, the 2018 version remade by Bluepoint Games. I'm actually very excited to be getting that game as a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

March 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

  • Shadow of the Colossus | PS4 | $19.99
  • Sonic Forces | PS4 | $19.99

March Savings: $39.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $189.93

There you have it. What do you think of March's lineup? Let me know in the comments below!

February 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Earlier today the PlayStation Blog revealed which games are coming to PlayStation Plus in February. Ever since PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita games were dropped from the lineup, PlayStation Plus subscribers were treated to only two PlayStation 4 games a month. For the month of February, PS Plus subscribers will get three games. Hopefully this becomes more of a regular occurrence.

The three games coming to PlayStation Plus in February are BioShock: The Collection, The Sims 4, and Firewall Zero Hour. Just so you know, Firewall Zero Hour is a PlayStation VR game.

How much do you save this month with PlayStation Plus? Let's find out.

February 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games:

  • BioShock: The Collection | PS4 | $59.99
  • The Sims 4 | PS4 | $39.99
  • Firewall Zero Hour | PS4 | $19.99
January Savings: $119.97
Year-to-Date Savings: $149.95

PlayStation Plus basically pays for itself twice this month—assuming you don't have any of these games already, of course. I can't remember the last time I played The Sims, and I honestly didn't know it was on PlayStation 4. I have only played BioShock Infinite, but I really liked it on PS3. I already have BioShock: The Collection and this just reminds me I need to actually play it. I don't have a PlayStation VR, but maybe someday I can play Firewall Zero Hour.

What do you think of February's lineup? Let me know in the comments below!

My PlayStation 2019 Wrap-Up

Since 2017, PlayStation users have been treated a "year in review" page that shows their top 3 games played, amongst other statistics. If you're wanting to check out your 2019 wrap-up, click on this link. If you aren't already logged in, you'll have to log into your PSN to see your own stats.

Nintendo did one for 2019 as well. Maybe I should write about mine despite having to sell my Switch mid-2019 (*sad face intensifies*). Not only did I sell my Switch, I had to sell my PS4 Pro. I think I sold mine in September. But this ain't no pity party. I'm sorry I even mentioned it. Since then, I've been able to get another PlayStation 4 Pro and I'm pretty happy to have one again.

With those details in mind, I'm still kind of impressed with my PlayStation stats. Even though I was without a PS4 for the last four months of 2019, I was able to clock in 386 hours of gameplay. Granted, in 2018 I clocked in 301 hours alone in Overwatch. I was curious as to which game would be my most played game in 2019, and after seeing which game it was, I'm not surprised. My top played game in 2019 was Resident Evil 2 with 61 hours played. I loved that game so much. It may have been my favorite game of 2019.

My second most played game in 2019 was Dead or Alive 6. This was another game I loved in 2019, so it makes sense that I put in the amount of hours I did towards that game. I also have it on Steam and I've put in another 42 hours on the Steam version of the game, so combined it would be 82 hours. Where does all the time go??

My third most played game in 2019 was Monster Hunter World at 32 hours. I didn't think I played that much Monster Hunter World in 2019, but apparently I did. I'm far from done with the main story, but that didn't stop me from buying Iceborne. I really shouldn't have, but I did. One day I'll get to it...

I'm not sure how this metric is tracked, but throughout the year I played 222 days out of 365 days. My prime time to play was Saturday evenings and my longest gaming streak was 3 hours. I also earned 307 trophies: 174 bronze trophies, 56 silver trophies, 68 gold trophies, and 9 platinum trophies. My most played game online with PlayStation Plus was Dead or Alive 6 at 16 hours.

If I were to predict what my top 3 games for 2020 will be, I think it will be Final Fantasy VII Remake, Persona 5, and Resident Evil 3. Like Final Fantasy XV, I think Final Fantasy VII Remake will consume every minute of my gaming life until I've gotten every trophy to get that sweet platinum trophy. While I will be getting Persona 5 Royal, I have been playing Persona 5 at the moment so I can hopefully get the platinum in that game. I think it at least takes 100 hours to get the platinum, so it may be number 1 if FFVII Remake isn't. Considering I put 61 hours into Resident Evil 2 last year, I think it is safe to assume that Resident Evil 3 will be third. There's a chance another game can take third place, but considering how much time I put into RE2, I think RE3 has a very good chance of making my top 3 this year.

What were your 2019 stats? Let me know in the comments below!

January 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games

Happy New Year! I'm a few days late. What's new? Maybe one of these days I'll be more prompt about updating this blog. I only ever post something once a month anyway...

Before we go over what's new for PlayStation Plus subscribers, let's talk about the amount of money PlayStation Plus subscribers saved with PlayStation Plus. I probably don't need to dedicate an entire paragraph if you follow my blog, but since I want to make this post bigger than it usually is, I'm going to remind you. Last year PlayStation Plus subscribers saved $894.70. That's assuming you had PlayStation Plus all year long and didn't own a single game that was free with PlayStation Plus.

If you're needing to renew your PlayStation Plus subscription, you've got until January 13, 2020 to get it for $44.99 on the PlayStation Store. If you're wanting to save a little more, you can also get it on GreenManGaming for $42.74. I just don't know how long that sale goes for. There are other sites, but those are the two I have used before and have never had any problems buying from them.

For the first month of the new, PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator. If you loved Uncharted 1, 2, and 3, it's more of that, but in 1080p and 60fps. Goat Simulator is kind of dumb, but in a funny way.

January 2020 PlayStation Plus Free Games:

  • Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection | PS4 | $19.99
  • Goat Simulator | PS4 | $9.99
January Savings: $29.98
Year-to-Date Savings: $29.98

What do you think of this month's lineup? Let me know in the comments below.
